Areas of Life Management

Happy New Year! Instead of making New Year's resolutions, how about a new way of looking at managing your life? This IS your business, and YOU are your own personal business manager. Consider these areas of life. What is your ideal vision for each area of management?

  1. Physical Health & Well-Being
  2. Quiet Time/ Mental/Spiritual
  3. Family & Relationships
  4. Service to Others
  5. Friends - Social Life
  6. Work/Career /School/Skill Development
  7. Financial
  8. Home Life- Personal Physical Space

What are your goals; what 100% look like if you could manage your ideal achievements in each area? On a blank page, write one of the Areas of Management at the top and start brainstorming; think “Pie-In-The-Sky”  with no limitations; you can start general but work on specific details!

For instance, do you want to be able to run a marathon, or simply run with a better crowd? Do you want to take 30 minutes daily for exercise or meditation? Do you want to volunteer for a cherished cause, learn to speak Italian, or go back to school? Do you want to build a comfy retirement account or a cool tree house fort? You name it! This is your wish list!

When you’ve written down your “ideal” in one category, move on to a clean page and start on the next Area of Management. Keep going until you have written something that resembles your ultimate vision for each category. You will keep adding to these pages throughout the series until you have a clear picture of your Peak Potential. Have fun with this! The sky's the limit!

STEP TWO
  1. See the LIFE WHEEL below...Each Area of Management is one piece of the pie. The very outer edge of the wheel in each area is the pie-in-the-sky, ultimate vision you worked out in Step One. The center is 0% and the outside of the wheel is 100%.
  2. Now that you have an idea of what your 100% is, print or draw your LIFE WHEEL and estimate where you are now in relation to where you want to be in each Area of Management. Draw a line indicating your current status between the center (0%) and the outer edge (100%) to indicate where you think you are along the path of reaching your Peak Potential in this area. Are you half-way to your ideal (50%)? More? Less?
  3. After you have done this for each Area of Management, shade in the area from the center (0%) to the line of your current position. Look at your Wheel and think about taking this wheel on the road. Would you have a bumpy ride? How balanced are your Areas of Management? What areas need work?

Next week we will start to develop an action plan to address the areas that are out of balance. See ya Wednesday at 4:30-6 at the Love City Labyrinth or check in next week for the next assignment. Please let us know how you are doing, if you have any questions or insights that might empower or motivate others! LIB Life Wheel Blank.jpg
